Many times as the kids are playing soccer, the mom’s get together on the sidelines and talk while the dad’s do the same. Several of the same topics come up with both groups but nothing is ever done about any of their complaint. Complaints such as loosing weight, organizing the house and families schedules, planning family vacations and how to raise money for new uniforms are just a few of the topics that may arise during the sideline talk at the soccer games.
A lot of soccer moms want to loose weight and that can be hard when you are always busy taking the kids to their soccer games, feeding the family and organizing different events for both your family and perhaps the school or church or even the soccer club. One way to start loosing weight is to get the rest of the soccer moms together and start an exercise program during the soccer games. Usually the soccer games the children are playing are at a field in the park or a school that would have a walking track. Walking is one of the best ways to begin to loose weight and see significant results with little effort. Plus, it’s the perfect time to be exercising while your children are getting in their exercise on the soccer field, you and the other soccer moms can be walking around the track or park trails getting in a good workout rather than simply sitting there waiting for the children.
When the soccer season is over, the soccer moms can continue their quest for fitness by joining the YMCA or a fitness center where they can keep on walking or try other methods of exercises. Many fitness centers, especially the local YMCA, have swimming pools and water aerobics which are great exercises because they are low impact on the joints such as knees and hips.
Exercising with friends or another soccer mom will help with your motivation and studies show when you exercise with a partner, you will not give up as quickly as you would when you exercise alone, especially if you have joined a gym or other fitness center. Having someone to talk with and compete with will motivate you to remain in the exercise program even if it’s not an actual structured program.
There are other programs in which you can bring your children along with you such as the ‘mommy and me’ programs offered at many of the YMCA’s and fitness centers. This is a great opportunity for soccer mom’s to show their children that exercise extends past the soccer field and needs to continue in order to lead a strong and healthy lifestyle.
As a soccer mom in an exercise program you are teaching your children the value of exercise by your example and that they need to continue the exercise they learned during warm-ups on the soccer field before games. There are certain exercises for soccer and then there are exercises for weight loss for the soccer moms. Walking is only one exercise that can be shared with your children.
